New Ireland Equestrian Vacation Destinations

by: Darley Newman

After our recent Ireland trip, where Equitrekking Travel's preferred agent Julie Snyder and I were able to ride once again at every destination we feature and more, we've added a few new Irish equestrian vacations to EquitrekkingTravel.com.

We are excited to introduce an equestrian's paradise at Castle Leslie. There are over 300 cross country jumps, an indoor arena, mechanical horse to work your riding muscles and correct your form, beautiful, regal accomodations and more. If you travel there soon, you may have the chance to stay in the castle with Sir John Leslie, the 94-year-old Baronet who still resides there. I say to go soon, because Sir John is 94, though you'd never know it from meeting him, as he's very spry! He still plays the piano and chats up guests and has been known to go clubbing, yes clubbing. He spent his 85th birthday clubbing in Ibiza, a Spanish island known for its party scene. This is a truly cool vacation. We have a few travelers who've asked to pair a few days of lessons and cross country at Castle Leslie with the new Medieval Village Trek to Carlingford, a great combination!

We'd also like to introduce Clonshire Equestrian Center, which is located in the horsey area of Adare, only 40 minutes from Shannon Airport. This is a great place to better your cross country, jumping or flatwork under the instruction of Dublin Horse Show winner Sue Foley. For parents with horsey kids, there's a special July and August children's camp. Guests may choose to stay on on the grounds of the equestrian center in the Foley home or in the upscale, equestrian themed Dunraven Arms Hotel, right in the center of Adare.

The popular Galway & Clare Riding Adventures has added a special September 11-15 Matchmaking Festival Ride and trip to the Ballinasloe Horse Fair Oct 2-7. This vacation destination is so popular because the hosts, Bertie and Nicola, the food, Irish horses and farmhouse are wonderful.

Having ridden at every destination that we feature in Ireland, Julie Snyder is a great resource to help match you to your Ireland equestrian vacation, so please contact Julie to plan your horseback riding vacation in Ireland. View all of EquitrekkingTravel.com's Ireland equestrian vacations.
